Fishing Duck River

Duck River Icon

From the bank or a boat, anglers can wet their lines from dawn until dusk on Duck River, which is stocked with healthy numbers of largemouth and spotted bass, bream, channel catfish, and crappie; the lake has also been stocked with threadfin shad to provide a hearty food source for the larger game fish. While the bass are catch and release only at this time, each day anglers may take up to 30 crappies over 9 inches, 20 bluegills and shellcrackers, and an unlimited number of catfish. Many anglers find the lake to be an ideal kayak fishing destination for its tranquility. To keep it this way, only vessels with 25 horsepower and under are allowed to access the lake. Those who wish to access the lake by watercraft may use the East Side public boat launch  located on County Road 1647, or a second launch point on County Road 1670.

Fishing at Duck River does require a permit that can be obtained for free at one of the two boat ramps or on the City of Cullman website here.
